Off to Georgia?
We got some good news today regarding M.’s application to OCS. Apparently he could get into an October cycle if he gets all his paperwork in by September first. This is great, because we had figured he wouldn’t make it into a cycle until January. The bottom line for all of this is that I will be heading home to the States a lot sooner than expected.
Yes, this is a good thing for us, for a variety of reasons. And obviously, becoming an officer is good for M. — it’s what he wants to do.
The downside is that I just went to orientation today at the German kindergarten where Dash is scheduled to begin in Sept., and it was amazing. He is in the same class as one of his little girlfriends, and he just loves the place. More importantly (from a practical point of view, because honestly, who cares if he likes it? :P) is the fact that I really really like the woman that is the head instructor for his group. She’s kind, spirited and very bright. It will be a great disappointment if Dash doesn’t get very much time there.
And as much as I’ve complained about living on an Army base overseas (you will start hearing about it more frequently - the good and the bad), I will miss the handful of good friends I have made here. Just this afternoon a group of us were sitting outside, joking around and watching our kids play. These are the people who keep me sane. You know who you are, and don’t for one second think that I won’t miss you something terrible when I get home. Keep that in mind when I go into epileptic fits of joy, swallowing my tongue in an effort to sing “The Eyes of Texas”.
Gotta say, though - I’m awfully proud of the man tonight. Go man.
Also, I was going to rant about bossy moms who refuse to take advice but always give it (forcefully) but SJ already did, so just go read her if you don’t already.
