A True WTF

Since I’ve been scouring my logs for spam trying to fight off poker-bots this evening, I have been noticing a lot of weird referrers. One in particular was a MySpace profile that contained an image of Daschel.

Now I know, I put my son’s pictures on the Internet. And yeah, I figure that there might be someone out there who takes it or copies it or whatever. I know it happens to a lot of bloggers. Rather than stamp all my images, I use a Creative Commons license to curb image stealing.

But the weird thing about this picture was that it was left as a comment to some chick’s profile on MySpace. No commentary or anything, just a picture of Dash. She hotlinked it, which pisses me off even further.

So I gave her a surprise. Well, the owner of the profile will have a surprise, but whatever. I don’t really care to email some 16 year old on MySpace to ask her what possessed her to hunt down a picture of Dash — a picture that is just uploaded to my server, she didn’t hotlink the Flickr version, which is strange in itself — I have no desire to have a conversation with this person. I’d rather laugh at the idea of her going back to check on her friend’s profile to find the present I left her.

i’d have gone with one of the pain pics but then again i can be pretty malicious when i’m bored and find hotlinks.

(Back in the dark ages of my internet experience…we’ll call that bleak time “The year 1998″, I did something similar on an eBay auction. And they totally put up HARDCORE pics of gay porn. I learned my lesson about another little thing I like to refer to as “bandwidth” very quickly.)

I was half expecting goatse, but was really let down.

Oh, good lord, I’m surprised you were even able to make anything out of that website. What a mess! Anyway, I get why some people hotlink, but what I don’t get is why someone would hotlink a picture of someone else’s child. It really boggles the mind.

I just block myspace from getting anything from my site. I had some chick stealing all sorts of images (and several using an animated bunny. wtf for I’ll never know.)
