Friday Five, I Turn Off the Lights When I Think About You Edition

I think all these songs are great for making out, so if you’re able, get it on. I’ll be here, spooning pudding into toddler-sized bowls and considering whether or not I should shave my dog bald (the shedding is incredible this summer, I’ve considered giving her away, perhaps to Oprah). If you know the song the “edition” words come from, you’re a badass and I love you. There’s a hint in the playlist, just fyi. I once had this idea to take photos that pay a sort of homage to classic album covers, but I never went through with it. I’d kill for a photo of me (or anyone I give a shit about, actually) doing their best impression of Tapestry, or a photo of someone copying London Calling. How badass would that be? Would you dress up in your suit to eat a banana, and let me take your photograph? Then look up and say, “I’m Your Man.”

Oh Leonard Cohen.

BONUS:

“And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you’ve always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you’ve touched her perfect body with your mind. ”

Does anyone write that way anymore? Besides him.

OK, Paige, what’s up? “Suzanne” is one of my all time favorite songs, and the reason I learned to play guitar back in High School! Between that, Dire Straits and Springsteen, we actually have a lot of the same taste in music.

Love ya, Robin

Mmm… Seam. Chunky (in fact, almost superchunky) pop goodness. Thanks for sharing.

“Berlitz” is, in addition to “Raphael” one of my favorites songs evar.

And how did I know you’d be into Seam? I’m getting good at guessing things.

You forgot to stick a smiley face on the end of that message.

“considering whether or not I should shave my dog bald”

Man, I really need to get out more, because somehow that totally sounds dirty.

Two - I purposefully left it off! I’m trying to be more cool lately.

Cal - I thought I had a dirty mind, but I didn’t even think of that. Though it would be strange if someone called a part of their body their “dog”, wouldn’t it? No, my dog is furry and white and the hair is all over my house and driving me nuts.

I love the idea of dressing up like a song. Hmmm… I would want to dress up like a really cheesy song like “The Pina Colada Song”

Maybe I could get “caught in the rain”?

Leah - that sounds like a great project to do with a boyfriend. Get yours to take some arty beautiful album-inspired photos of you!
