Media Darlings

Be sure to read my big brother editors Matt and Allen give good interview to Austin American Statesman writer Sarah Frank. They like us, they really …

The numbers are respectable and steadily growing, even though it’s not necessarily surprising that online content is popular with the younger-than-40 set. Austin360 (www.austin360.com), the online entertainment arm of the Austin American-Statesman Web site pulls in more than 100,000 page views from more than 25,000 unique visitors each day.

Good for you, 360. As Tom points out over at our basecamp, Austinist has garnered 12% of that traffic without the huge budget or ad service: we get what get thanks to great writing and good old-fashioned Austin word-of-mouth.

Odam and Chen, who met when they became some of the first Austinist writers last year, started small, with maybe an entry a day. At the time, even that seemed daunting to Odam. Now the duo compiles about half the site and occasionally leads blogging seminars through the Writer’s League of Texas.

Yeah, pretty badass.
