MySpace Cool New People: I’m Doubtful

i'm not so sure

I rarely use MySpace, but keep my account there for ease in dealing with local bands as I try to book Rock N Romp events. It’s actually pretty easy once you have a decent contact list together, because you can see their schedules right away, know if they’re available, etc. I’m hoping that when Virb.com comes out of beta, most bands move over there … I’m sure it won’t be immediately beneficial to most of them right away, but Virb is really a superior service for bands …

Anyway, I login to MySpace once a day or so to see if anyone has something important to tell me regarding Romps, Austinist or happy hour, and I always giggle at the “Cool New People” section. This morning’s cool new people were especially hilarious to me, it looks like a collection of convicts. “Hey thirteen year old girl logging into MySpace, check out this shady guy in an undisclosed location, staring creepily at the camera! GOOD MORNING FROM COOL NEW PEOPLE.”

Terrifying.

Visiting MySpace this morning wasn’t all for not, though, Todd posted new songs and I’m really stoked, I love his Arms project, good stuff.

Ugh. They do look a little like a child pornography ring.

Whether they are or not, there’s just something wrong with that one guy being named “Triple Jay”. I can’t put my finger on why though.

There was a three-day period on MySpace last week, where it kept changing around two of the Cool New People, but always had this one guy. Alejandro. I finally caved and went to his page. It was one of those private, locked ones.

O, Alejandro. Will I ever know the mystery that is you?

Hey, are those the same three guys that were featured on the “Cool New People To Start Playing War-craft Nonstop” commercial? No?

I hated Myspace till I got involved in a political debate on someone else’s Myspace page. Now I get on there just to tell politically incorrect people off……..Good times I tell ya!

I finally got so tired of people asking why I wasn’t on Myspace that I made a page. For my dog.

He leaves people naughty comments about how he wants to hump their leg and lick their face. It’s fun. ;)

I’ve noticed a lot of couples in the Cool New People area, and sometimes they have those “I think I’m totally hot” looks on their faces and I get confused and think I logged into swingers.com…
