My Sister’s Boss’ Brother Is Awesome (Karaoke Guided By Voices)

I had a big camcorder when I was a kid, or my parents did rather, and I would tape myself singing along with things I liked (Huey Lewis, Madonna’s True Blue, Prince’s original Batman soundtrack), but no one ever saw them except whoever happened to be in the living room when I played back the tape. I’m sure my mom has a box in a storage unit somewhere with all that old footage, but I’ll probably never see it.

Doing stuff like that is such a nostalgia kick in the pants, it’s awesome that this guy (my sister’s boss’ brother, an Austinite) is keeping the fire alive with his karaoke version of Robert Pollard’s “Old Battery”. It totally made my day, and I think I’m finally ready to invest in a video camera again … provided me and Dash can pull off something this awesome.

I don’t even know these guys and it made my night. I love their unbridled enthusiasm while singing to the camcorder. And the tamborine thingy was an added bonus.

on a side note, my bloglines has finally(!) started updating your blog into my reader. I’m not sure what was happening before but it never worked. So I’m just going to take that as a sign that good things are going to happen for you this week. (I’m nice like that.)

I watched those this morning and had “American Music” in my head for the next couple of hours. Fun!
