More Details on Fridge’s New Album Unfolding

Temporary Residence Ltd. is proud to release Fridge’s first new album in six years: The Sun. Contrary to what some may think the band never went away, never went on sabbatical and certainly never broke up. While Adem Ilhan, Kieran Hebden and Sam Jeffers have all been working it harder than Missy Elliott on their own individual projects, those projects were already going on before 2001’s Happiness. Fridge just stretched a little at the edges, and ended up with a bigger, wider sound than ever for their new record, The Sun.
I’m pretty new to Fridge, but I’m way into the individual members’ projects, Kieran Hebden of Four Tet and Steve Reid collaborations and Adem’s Love and Other Planets was one of my favorites of 2006. I caught part of Adem’s live set last year when he was here with Juana Molina, and his ukulele version of “God Only Knows” brought my faith back for the instrument. That being said, the new Fridge looks great so far, and I’m excited to get a chance to see them play. Temporary Residence is dropping hints about an American tour in the fall, claiming it’s the first time they will have played in the U.S. ever, but I’m fairly sure that’s not true. Regardless, look for the new album (dropping June 19) and check out the sample track, “Eyelids”.
