Taschen’s 1000 Record Covers
TASCHEN’s 1000 Record Covers came into my life last night at a dinner party, positioned appropriately on a coffee table alongside some other recommended reading, and I’m surprised I’ve never seen it before. It’s right up my alley - album art is pretty much my favorite medium. I’ve linked before to David Byrne’s conversation about art & packaging, and recently I’ve been absorbing as much information and visual stimulation on the subject as possible (see Hard Format’s brilliant work in the medium, via).
The book spans albums released between the ’60s and the tail end of the ’90s, and was compiled by Michael Ochs, a music archivist, disc jockey, journalist, and ex-record publicity executive.
