Google Eats

index.pngHas Gmail ever eaten your inbox? It happened to me today, and it sucks. The mail is not in the trash, not in all mail, things in the inbox that were labeled aren’t in their label’s archives … I’m pretty much lost. Apparently it’s a regular thing for a “small subset of Gmail users”, and I reported it, but the “usually your mail is restored” assurance isn’t really helping me feel better right now. If this has happened to you I’d love to hear about it … I switched from Thunderbird to Gmail full time because of the various ways I could organize myself, and now all my reasons are dangling in the wind.

holy crap. that’s really scary. i do everything from google, all of my email, a lot of my new documents (which i almost always backup on my hard drive) …. makes me think i need to reinstall google desktop, since it caches your email locally (offline). you’d think if anyone online is going to have reliable storage, it would be google. *shudder*

Oh my, that’s terrifying. I attended a conference recently where one of the speakers got preachy about using your inbox as your “to do list”. Here’s another reason not to, I suppose!

ugh - hope it never happens to me - I’d be a lonesome child, wandering the aisles. hang on to that “hope”.
