Meetings is a hardcover book with 40 photographs taken by Paul Shambroom in meetings. Meetings, he says, are full of theatrics. “There is a “cast”, a “set”, an “audience” (sometimes) and a “program” (the agenda). Seating arrangements, clothing and body language all provide clues to local cultural traits and political dynamics.”
Klein Dytham architecture’s Web site is beautiful and perfect for what they do. It’s a sort of portfolio or gallery style site, refreshing launches a new example of their work, alongside commentary on it. Their fusion of graphic design and architecture is inspiring, one of the most direct bridges between digital design and physical I’ve seen.
This is another long, truly mixed mixtape, each song hopefully flowing seamlessly to the next as one big composition. I’m including the track list, in the order in which the songs appear, in case something catches your fancy and you’d like to search out more stuff. I hope you enjoy it, it’s designed for chilly fall morning walks to work with coffee in hand and scarf around your neck, and evenings on your porch watching brown leaves fall. Xiu Xiu’s upcoming album is slated for release in January. Women As Lovers will be released on Kill Rock Stars, and expected to be more of the avant pop and electro darkness we’ve come to know and love. While we’re waiting, though, can I encourage you to check out XXL, the collaboration between Xiu Xiu and Larsen? They released an album this year called Spicchiology?, a follow-up to the brilliant debut Cautistico!, and it’s absolutely incredible.
