Sigur Ros & the World’s Most Uncomfortable Interview

sigur rosSo, Sigur Ros went down to NPR studios to sit down with the Bryant Park project folks and talk about their upcoming movie, Heima. What follows is one of the most awkward and uncomfortable interviews I’ve ever seen that didn’t involve Bill Callahan. And thanks to the beauty of the digital age, there’s accompanying video. Wow. So hard to watch.

PAINFUL!

On the one hand, these guys do seem like terrible interview subjects no matter who’s asking the questions. But on the other hand–what’s with the awful questions? When you’re formulating questions to ask a famously standoffish band, you need to come up with something a lot better than, “are you guys a bit of a phenomenon in Iceland?” No?
