Bill Callahan “Vessel in Vain”

My piece about Iron & Wine is up at NPR music. Just a shame they spelled my name wrong under the photo. :/
I’ve been talking about picking this up for weeks, but I finally grabbed it and as usual, it’s full of wonderful essays, reviews and interviews worth reading. My favorite piece, a piece that I’ve mentioned, bookmarked and forced upon friends for months is Nick Southalls’ essay called “Imperfect Sound Forever”, which originally appeared at Stylus (RIP).
I made a mistake earlier, thanks to the usage of Pavement plays-on-words. The Wowee Zowee piece was by Mallory O’Donnell, and it was about Wowee Zowee. Nick’s piece is about listening. Read it.

How beautiful is that library? I know that the conventional thought is that little identical cubes (in this case, even sterile little identical cubes) can be bad for morale in the workplace etc., but I would love to work in a building this beautiful. Look at all the Lamosca stuff here.
Anthony Burrill has an incredible portfolio of work on his site, but I’ve been particularly drawn to the series of photographs of his Sock Boy. There’s so many monkeys, let’s make room for the boy.
Burrill also creates amazing woodblock posters and posters composed of found and created images. His new stuff can be found at Tomorrow, where “I like it what is it” is the phrase of the day.
