MySpace Alert: Human Milk

Austin’s Human Milk are playing here tomorrow night with a group comprised of some friends, so when I saw this unknown (to me) band name on the poster I had to look him up.

I’m glad I did. Kerstan Wallace makes music that reminds me of early Thee More Shallows and even a bit of older Manitoba or Four Tet stuff. It’s electro-coustic pop music, and his voice reminds me of Nick Thorburn (Islands) at times. Actually, the more I listen to it, the more I’m reminded of Islands in terms of mood, just stripped down to one dude’s bedroom. It’s sweet but not saccharine, and the efficient little compositions have made several rotations through my playlist today. I recommend “Green Hills.” I have no idea if there’s a record available or not, but I’ll update this if I find out.
