#5: My Mathematical Mind

I did all kinds of driving this weekend and finally grabbed a handful of CDs off the shelf to replenish the car’s supply. I’ve been listening to a skipping copy of Rumours, an old mix, and Kronos for way too long. I took Wyatt’s Comicopera and Gimme Fiction., because I hadn’t listened to it all the way through in at least a year. I’m glad I did — there is something about Spoon’s rhythmic, brooding rock noir that makes driving fun again. My favorite tune is “My Mathematical Mind” (I love the exposition of Daniel’s guitar, shifting from metallic and spastic to arena-ready as the song goes on, partnered with the steady and unshifting support beams of the bass and drums), so here’s to #5.
