Though It Should Be Said …

The further down the shithole this country goes, the more we can justify being hopeful for truly great music to appear. If I learned anything from The Rest Is Noise or my love affair with 20th century music, it’s that in the worst of times, the masses are most ready to be distracted by their own creative fancies, cultural revolutions and self-perpetuated soapboxes. In this tradition, I rest in waiting for the next great musical revolution to happen upon us, and my only request is that it happen outside of the dance halls. It’s too early to relive the ’70s. Sorry, Santogold.

I too have been searching for the next great musical revolution. I love the digital revolution and all that it entails, but I would really like this generation to produce something sonically revolutionary. Not just a format change.

I actually have a whole spiel about this… At it’s very basic, I don’t think the next great musical revolution is going to happen for at least another 10-15 years. Why? In the words of that bearded dude, “Because of the internet.”
