The Abandoned Sets of The Wire

A Live Journal community called Abandoned Places gathers and shares photos from forgotten places. An empty shopping center, a brown-green greenhouse that’s seen better days, and a dirty farmhouse are just some of the interesting finds, but the collection of shots from the old set of HBO’s The Wire is a stand-out. Cluttered set desks, glassed Baltimore Police Department rooms with nothing more than trash inside, the familiar dry-erase board from the Homicide office and vast Sun news room all capture the bittersweet beauty of the end. It’s all very meta: an abandoned fake world that now becomes just as real as any other, having experienced death and abandonment.

Cool photos. The Wire was a great show, although I personally liked Deadwood better, and am still angry they canned it.
