One a Day While You’re Away: Prefab Sprout

Thanks to a couple of fellow music geeks in my forum (including this one, who has “Bonny” on a recent mix), I discovered this Prefab Sprout album, Steve McQueen (1985). It’s pretty much awesome. I remember Prefab Sprout songs, but I never got back around to albums – glad I’m catching up on that now. “When Love Breaks Down” is another wonderful tune from this album. Recently, Thomas Dolby remastered Steve McQueen, and that’s the version I’m getting as soon as I’m nice and comfortable in this (pretty damn good sounding) original.
Shit, let’s do two.
Prefab Sprout “Faron Young” “Goodbye Lucille #1? is the best ever song about getting fucking over a girl. i could make an argument that this album’s the best thing to come out of the 80s other than the queen is dead. Yes! I love (mostly the first half of) this album. Let’s not get all crazy now, Mike. it was meant as hyperbole, fer sure. but it is a pretty damn great pop record. there are 2 or 3 songs on ’swoon’ that are excellent, as well. Please be polite. I’m still partial to “Jordan: The Comeback.”
