so i write for tiny mix tapes. we are beginning to create our “best albums of the decade” lists. that’s all fine and dandy, except for the fact that from between the years of 2000-2003, my musical tastes were limited at best. hell, in 2000, i was still going to nsync concerts (don’t hate.) 2004 i’m a bit wonky on; i was in a transitional period from shitty music > good music.

so here’s my question: what albums from 2000-2004 should i better acquaint myself with before june 12?

Slint, Feist, Broken Social Scene, Xiu Xiu, Fennesz, Namelessnumberheadman, Lambchop, Dirty Projectors, Clinic, Bark Psychosis, Ted Leo, Sun Kil Moon, Smog, the Notwist, My Morning Jacket, Menomena, Matmos, Manitoba, Lightning Bolt, Four Tet, Bonnie Prince Billy, Cat Power, Andrew Bird, Wilco, the Walkmen, Stephen Malkmus, Spoon, Liars, Isis, Karate, Interpol, Glen Kotche, David Grubbs, the Shins, Shiner, Red House Painters, the New Year, Jim O’Rourke, Radiohead, the New Pornographers, Mark Kozelek, and Heavy Vegetable all released really good records between 2000-2004.
