92: Joy Division’s Closer (1980)

Raw emotion, power, truly groundbreaking shit that doesn’t seem to know a generation. Every new young person presented with the spacious, devastatingly empty songs of Joy Division falls prey to its simple seductions. There’s not much to say here, that hasn’t been said before, so I’ll just let the album speak for itself. There’s none of you that haven’t listened, there’s none that could listen and be unmoved, there’s none that scoff at its influence.
