2009 was the year that saw a spate of books about Darwin and evolution, celebrating the 200th anniversary of his birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of On the Origin of the Species, and a whole range of books spawned by the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11's moon landing. We also saw gripping history of science tales, great science fiction and science-inspired fiction and a flood of responses to the climate change debate.
