Paige Maguire Resume (2009) (PDF)
512-422-0550 / 2516 E. 3rd St. / Austin, TX 78702 / paige@flux-rad.com

I was the Marketing and Development Director at WOXY until March 23, 2010. I have had the distinct pleasure of bringing our unique product to music lovers around the world. I also managed all of WOXY’s events in the community. Prior to WOXY, I was a web developer and web marketing guru at Austin’s NPR affiliate, KUT 90.5 FM.

I continue to consult when I’m available. If you’d like me to help your business, band or non-profit with social media, marketing, outreach and branding, please contact me: paige@flux-rad.com.

I’ve had the unique experience in my work life to be on both sides of project development. I’ve worked face-to-face with clients, helping to meet their needs and bring them the product and capabilities they need, and I’ve also been the code devotee, actually building the elements of the finished product. I have experience working with a wide array of clients. I’ve worked in public radio, Internet radio, online publishing, music and media distribution, sales, sponsorship and more. I’ve launched iPhone apps, built sites from the ground up, developed IA and UX strategies, created logo and branding elements, and helped clients with little or no online strategy become confident and active parts of their digital presence.
I believe that effective communication, good design and smart marketing are the essential tools that every client needs to bring their goals to realization. I have experience helping clients and partners develop these tools and reach their goals and have dedicated my work to this strategy since I first began freelance web design in 2003.

For the last five years I’ve worked in the radio and digital media world, focusing on radio’s transition to the 21st century. My unique position (web producer at KUT 90.5 FM and music editor at Austinist.com) gives me a special insight into the challenges artists face today, having to act as their own manager, booker, publicity firm and engineer. On the flip side, I see specific challenges and hurdles in the music industry (particularly the transistor-powered radio world) to keep up with the quickly changing music scene and the listeners that are increasingly online, not on-air.

One of the projects I began and directed was KUT’s Retread Sessions, a web-only video series featuring special Austin locales. I booked the bands, hired the crew, oversaw the edits and published the content to the web before marketing and spreading the word. The series was supported by the radio station for one year before meeting its demise due to budget setbacks. The content is still viewable online here. If you have any questions about this project, please contact me. These videos are not for sale, but my services implementing similar content for your site are.

I speak several times a year (University of Texas Board of Communications, Austin Music Foundation, Austin Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, SXSW, Fun Fun Fun Fest, etc.) about these issues, offering advice and insight to broadcasters, journalists, musicians and publicity firms alike. My rates are reasonable, and determined on a case-by-case basis. Please contact me for more information.

If you’re in a band and looking for coverage in the Austin and Central Texas area, please email me @ music@austinist.com.
